Concrete restoration in Delray Beach: a city permit, and sometimes a historic board
The question: who do I have to go through to repair spalling concrete in Delray Beach? The local fact: Delray Beach is an incorporated city with its own Development Services Building Division, not unincorporated Palm Beach County. Structural work such as a carport or lanai beam needs a City permit, and visible exterior concrete on a contributing structure in a historic district such as Del-Ida Park can also need a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Board. Demolition in Loxahatchee: the county permits it, and a survey comes first
The question: what has to happen before a structure on a Loxahatchee lot can come down? The local fact: Loxahatchee is unincorporated Palm Beach County, so a demolition permit runs through the county Building Division, while the Town of Loxahatchee Groves issues its own. Utilities have to be disconnected, Florida requires an asbestos survey before most demolition, and anything built before 1978 can hide lead paint.
